Hard to tell from these tiny pics, could be good or bad. But I do however notice that "all of a sudden" a huge amount more of these Soviet cases are offered on Ebay the last year. That trend made me quite cautious and this case with its quite extravagant well made tight design makes me even more cautious. The real ones I've seen were all less tight made (design wise). I guess it comes down to believing in the genuity of the item. And I am more on the non-believing side with this one. -

this has some decent workmanship on it. Which could be good or 'bad' depending who you talk to! I kind of like it..
I collected these for years. Only kept a couple .. But with these there is no absolute way to date the piece without some sort of provenance... You need a degree of faith buying anything like this.. IF you like it and its not going to put you in the poor house,,buy it,,enjoy it..Comment

I agree with Gaspare. There is no way to date these. But as said in my earlier comment, lots are now offered on Ebay with all kind of exciting designs. And I mean lots and lots. Quite suspicious! Where are the simple "boring" designs???? Simple place names with simple landmarks, or just names of girlfriends or comrades and some dates?? Because that is the designs the soldiers often were making, just look at period pics and read memoirs.
With these items that can go either way it all comes down to provenance....and as we all know, provence provided by Ebay sellers....well, that is usually to be taken lightly
