I have received several reviews...A well Known dealer from Estonia said it was theatrical made and not genuine based on the wool used.
Another Russia collector said that the buttons and shoulderboards are for sure real but the type of wool used to make the uniform is puzzling,
as it appears to be fabric from a later 1930-1940 period he felt...not smooth wool (gabardine wool)...Who knows?
Btw I added an Imperial shooting badge to the impression.Last edited by NickG; 02-28-2019, 01:14 AM.

Well 3 out of 5 experts told me that this kind of wool as used on my tunic post-dates WW1 as it is not the smooth type as expected to be seen on Russian Imperial uniforms of the WW1 period...but commonly seen in the 1940's....
So WW2 vintage which would make the uniform suspect... I was told that the straps and buttons are period Tsarist types...
Well of course few uniforms survived and it is hard to clearly recognize the wool types and shades used when studying B&W Russian pictures...
until I came across this image....
Well here is Maria Bochkareva (Women's Battalion of Death commanding officer Imperial army) in her Imperial Russian uniform which is clearly made in identical gabardine (striped) wool fabric...
Unless this uniform was created for her while in the States in 1918??
She went into exile to the US in 1918 as a white Russian refugee but returned during the Russian revolution while attempting to raise another (white) unit
but she was captured and eventually executed by the Bolsheviks in 1920.
Note the star symbols on her uniform buttons???...
But she was anti red revolution...So perhaps not communist buttons?
Thoughts?
Still a mystery uniform!Last edited by NickG; 03-02-2019, 08:43 PM.
