Shockworkers badge

Hi everybody,

i just wanted to share one of my latest finds, a Shockworker badge for Master Combine Harvester. Its number 4339

Its very well made. The hammer&Sickel look like they are from real gold. I have never seen this kind of badge with real gold h&s, so i wonder, if there are others with gold hammer and sickel?

I suspect this is a pre-WW2 badge. NKZ SSSR is the "NarKomZag" of the USSR--- People's Commissariat of Food Production. The P'sCs were renamed Ministries in 1946.

This is made by the Moscow Artists' Workshop Fellowship, which also made the 1940 model Khalkin Gol badge in

Note the strange silvered (mostly worn off) copper loop screw disk spinners which seem characteristic of their work.

My badge's screw disk also shows their street address as No. 11 Kuznetsky Most... I wonder (since they seem to disappear) whether these enamellers became the prolific "Victory" makers?

Thanks, Rick . What do you think about the Hammer and Sickel? I cannot see any base metal, even in some deeper scratches. If it really is gold, then that is quite unusual for these badges, right?

Do you have ever seen a picture with this badge in wear? There must have been a lot of Harvesters in the SU, so there must be some.

Do you have an idea, how many of these badges were awarded? And how many different versions do exist of these shockworker badges?

So many questions...
