    A Mysterious Khruschev-Era "Police" Gimnastyorka

Because I haven't got the digital camera currently, here is a shot of this tunic, received today, taken by the seller, "Motka" on eBay (and they have their own website)

It is white summer material, all buttons but the two (replaced) on collar are dated 1957. the shoulder straps are M1947 Police (Militia) but in reversed colors

Taken by me-- police should have red straps with blue piping, worn 1947-61. This Starshina (sergeant-major) however has navy blue straps with red piping for...

? traffic control police units? (I find no evidence of such insignia reversal), or

? MVD Ministry of the Interior Troops (I have NO uniform reference for them, but the braid is silver metallic--only looks like white in scan-- not gold, which seems to mean this was SOME sort of police.

Orrrrrrr.... as in so many other ways, did Police-Major Tokar's "1918-1991" uniform book get the M1947 colors exactly BACKWARDS and his "red" should = blue, while his "blue" should = red?
