KGB PV hat

Hello,

Have been offerred this KGB PV officers hat and just wondered what you folks thought of it.

Assuming this is the final 1980's version, should it not have a red stripe next to the black band and not just around the crown?

Are KGB PV officer parade hats the same as everyday ones? (obviously minus the parade cockade!)

Don't know on this one, I'm just feeling a little dubious over it, trying not to let my enthusiasm for an item I've wanted for a long time get in the way of sense here!

PS couple of things here...

1) I've not been shown the label inside... which is always a big clue
2) A "foreign business man" I know is about to or even might have started repro'ing these hats in the Ukraine - so do watch out!

Going off memory here, isn't this just a regular Border Guards officer parade visor? I used to see these on a fairly regular basis on the markets there in Russia. They aren't common, but not really uncommon either.

The cap band should actually be dark navy blue, not black so check that out first. Also, there should be some piping around the cap band too. I would be wary. These turn up on Ebay from time to time or if you go to any militaria fair they are occasionaly there too. How much does this bloke want for it?

In the upper pic it does look dark navy blue - well on this monitor it does anyway! (earlier on my work PC it didn't...)

The reason why I'm keen on it is the size... its my size! Which is quite rare because I take a 60!

He's after US$ 60 - which I would suggest is on the upper limit of what I'd expect.

If anyone has any better leads on a similar item do let me know

Sorry, my tastes are perhaps a little more simple than most on here... however there is still scope for me to get ripped off with something so lowly just as if it had been a general's hat!

I'd agree that in the heady days of collecting say 14 years ago such things you'd have bought by the container load for a few pairs of Levis, however not the case today it seems......
