"..Examples of the obverse of both the 5th and the 15th Anniversary of the Cheka-GPU badges which were awarded in 1922 and 1932 respectively. These are some of the most difficult to find originals, but at the same time they are heavy counterfeited and sold as originals. Even the silversmith's maker's marks common on the reverse are replicated."

            A rare badge. 5 years VCheKa-GPU.
The badge was created June 12th 1923, about 800 recipients. Together with the badge the awardee would receive the title of VCheKa-GPU Honorary Member.
Felix Dzerzhinsky had badge #1. All big wigs in CheKa got this bage - Peters(badge#2), Yagoda, Belenkiy... The recipients selection was very, very strict. No less than 3 years of service.
Later on a similar badge came out - 15 years of VCheKa-GPU .

There are fake badges, of course but it does not mean your badge is fake. This is a very expensive badge so it would not be a smart idea to call it a fake without a proper inspection.
BTW, I have a list somewhere of all the badge recipients. If you are interested I will try to find it.
