    Genuine WW2 suit....

    hello
i hope to get some help here please!
I get this suit. It is made of rubber with markings.
The son (seller) of the german soldier told me his father take this suit from russia as booty.
Possible the marking 40 means the year 1940?
Is it a gas protective overall?
    best regards 4xL

The stamps are Russian. 3РОСТ means 3rd height - height size.
Then there is also letters OTK inside of a triangle. OTK means Department of Technical Control. It means that the item was manufactured according to specifications.

These stamps are very common stamps and they were everywhere, military items, civilian items - no difference. They do not prove anything. I myself saw them on postwar items only.

Its not my field of knowledge, but the only book i have on Soviet WW2 uniforms mentions that a watertight rubber suit was used for decontamination purposes. Theres only a tiny image, it has some similarities to yours, but it looks to be a one piece suit, and the photo is black and white.

But i did find this image on the web....

                  Here is what I found:
                  http://www.specoborona.ru/advertising/article/8271/

                  unfortunately in Russian only.
Scroll down to a picture - Рис. 8
It looks very much like yours. It called Protective Suit. It had 3 sizes, yours(РОСТ3) is a biggest one - over 172cm. There were Protective suit(Рис. 8) and Protective overalls (Рис. 7)
According to this website it is postwar.

IV40 doesn't mean the year 1940. A year is always followed with the letter г (god = year).

The suit i shown looks like a mixture of the suit No.6 and 7 but these are overals.
Really hard to find out more about this suit
