1. Top: "Proletaries of all countries, unite!"
Bottom: "To the Winner of Socialistic competition". (means "To Best Worker")

2. Can be any time from 1950-1991

3. These banners were awarded to group of workers: could be any one from barber shop to factory, and were temporary/movable, that means for example if you were given this banner for good labor in March, and if you are not the "best worker" in April, it will go somewhere else.

It appears to be a product of the 80's. The bust of lenin looks printed vs sewn in. The material is not the top notch stuff of the earlier days.

Although I do not agree on the dates with bnz. 42, I do agree on point #3.
Are the words sewn in or printed? If sewn in it could be late 70's...

Just in case: A fair price for something like this is under $50.

question, how was the best worker/factory choosen, was it by region or individual factory

Sounds like you got a good deal - I too like the "sewn in" or chain stitch embroidered Soviet era flags, especially those with a unit number/title on same, and also the flag pole tops too!

The pre-WW2 model 202 NKVD Border Guard Regiment flag is, at least to me, an interesting flag in that the front side early Soviet coat-of-arms is in my opinion nicely done, and as it is not a silk flag it survives well being dragged to shows unlike some others (Lenin-head-Guards-Sapper-Bn/Tank-Brgd/Rifle-Rgt, etc.) flags, so it serves well for me as an easy to display piece at our local military collectors shows, as an example of the type of flag that I collect. Likewise, I've found, especially from doing the shows, that the whole subject of military unit flags is considered rather esoteric, with a very few really into collecting such flags. So no matter how rare the flag used to display at a show, few will be interested in even asking about them. To more directly answer your question, I do like the subject flag, and that should be what counts the most for any item one intends to perminently retain in their collection.<br><center>OldFlagsWanted.com</center><center><img src=http://members.tripod.com/~oldflagswanted/sovflgm1.gif></center>

I agree, it is an interesting flag, I thought so when I had it; I was just curious if you had changed your overall opinion of its age/authenticity since last we spoke about it. I still hold to my original assessment of it (otherwise I would have kept it), but am curious if further research has shown anything new.

As for other colelctors, I agree. I had a 1943 Gaurds Corps standard and it got less questions/ intrest than an infantry generals cap!
