    Soviet guards badge - original?

    Hello gentlemen,

I am able to buy this Soviet guards badge but I do have some doubts. The front looks like a convincing wartime badge without the fringes but it is the backside that worries me. I know these are faked a lot and the backside looks like a cheap version of a fake. But since there's no really good documentation available on these badges (as far as I know) I could be completely wrong and this could turn into a nice original wartime badge after all.

So any help is appreciated here
(these pics are the only ones I have but I hope they are sufficient, even though the quality of the pics could be better).

Thanks a lot Kommandir. This means these badges not always should have a "reversed" imprint on the backside where the star can be seen? (like on this badge shown below):

Its depend on stamp, but also could be full by solder.

Thanks a lot for the info. Will buy the badge and get better pics so this thread stays of use for other potential Guards badge buyers

I thought that one existed but couldn't find any images. As I recall it got great reviews.
                Thanks,

A few more images from the book (looks like an excellent reference book):

Another Guards badge is on its way to me now. I'm pretty sure it's a good wartime version. Can you confirm Kommandir and Eric? Thanks a lot in advance!

Probably, although I'[m no expert on dating them. Is the screwplate maker marked?
                      Thanks,

It's not in my hands yet but will check as soon as it arrives. Usually also by looking at the makerstamp on the screwplate a probable date can be given if I'm correct.

                            Thanks a lot Kommandir!!

I found out, whether true or not, that earlier models were more round of shape and later on got more of an oval shape. The 2nd one posted is a bit more round so I guess it's one of the earlier ones. Of course, when this story about the shape - round vs oval - is true.
