A new member to the family....

    Hello gentlemen,

Today a new member to my Red Star family arrived. It's a nicely marked star with number 320337, dating this to 1944. I can't explain why but I feel attracted to these beautifully made stars. This one is in a worn and a bit dirty condition, nothing distracting really. Hope you guys like it as much as I do

The other stars shown are all dated 1944 except for one which is a 1945 dated star.

Not yet. I have the address from Auke who does this research and it is in the planning of getting these researched.

            great looking star

Soviet awards never cease to fascinate me. the heroism for which many of them were awarded is mind boggling, knowing how poorly equipped were some of their recipients, especially early on in the war...

Awesome star! That is a really low number... are you sure it is as late as 1944? If so, it was before the change to make them long service awards. It amazing how that decision (to award orders for long service) really demeaned their prestige value!

Are you going to have it researched?

Thanks a lot guys! According to lists I've seen this is an early 1944 awarded badge yes and I also think it is indeed from before these became long service awards.
I do plan to have these researched so I will have definite answers on them in the future. The history attached to such an award does bring these back to life I think and that is what makes this hobby so interesting

                My other stars are numbered:
                466.774 (1944)
                563.101 (1944)
                618.065 (1944)
                2.564.587 (1945)

You think late '43? I usually use the list on this page:

But if there's more accurate lists than I am very interested to see

                      Good old Memories.
About 20 Years ago I bought a Shopping Bag with 150 of them from a polish guy for 2.50 Marks ea. About 1.25 Euros today, but sadly they're all gone for some years.
Not to add, that all were originals and not these lousy copies they sell these days.
