    NKVD cap for review

    It was described as follows:
"Russian NKVD officer's cap that was brought home by a 69th Division veteran of the Second World War". All too often these little archives are split up but it was received by the seller (from a picker) along with a the 1932-dated Tula Nagant revolver as well....+ US 69th Div uniform items...

    Thoughts?

Thats a nice cap. I have one somewhere in my ragpile, but that one has chem troops piping!

Forgot to say- Send an email to Espenlaub, they deal with identification of these on a daily basis

                Thanks. btw don't be alarmed!
The weird crown shape is of course because of the metal stand it rests on!

Some more maker or owner info???
I should have it in hand by the end of the week. More images to follow!

I contacted them and they stated most likely early post war based on the star...
but it's a good one at a cheap price. I got lucky!

They further commented as follows: (Made me happy, I got $205 bucks in it!! Confirmation its a WW2 style for sure)

Yes, it is a nice M35 model (not a post war type) and even if it is postwar issue, (Star is not a big problem)
the price range is about 500E for such examples.

These caps are a minefield and there's almost no to no difference between wartime ones and very, very early postwar ones. This one gives me a good feeling and I like the well worn look of it. And for that price it's a winner anyway!

No dates on the buttons...blank but its certainly a bonafide early M35 visor, of this State Security organization!

and a thorough inspection "under the hood" revealed this nice surprise! Besides the cyrillic initials in another area,

More clues! A name! (Was not evident in the auction pictures...overlooked...)
It almost looks like an area of the liner was trimmed away to create this writing space! A nice bonus...
                            But what does it read?
It might be the US veteran's name...? (69 Inf. Div vet). Could be an indicator of WW2 vintage!

                              Nice!!!!!

You need more space for all your trinkets now that NKVD has started patroling your museum aswell.
