Keep in mind Cuba was just opened up to tourism recently by our illustrious president, so even my veterinarian just went there with his family to visit, so whereas previously the hat may have had more value, like Vietnam stuff I wouldn't get too excited about it, and beware as more Cuban items show up....unless it's cigars....so this one gets no cigars from me.

Not expert, but look like cheaply made tourist copy. In photos, all the caps seem to be stiffer shape and have 2 vents on each side. Pattern is also slightly different and no insignia. They might use a baseball type cap in the field now.

A friend of mine just returned from trip to Cuba and showed some photos. I noticed caps like this with poorly stitched stars on many people on streets, in turist related functions on particular. Also on stands with souvenirs.

Definitely a tourist item, bought some for our children the last time we were in Varadero. Cuba may have just opened up to American tourists, but people from other countries have been going there for years. I was lucky enough to snatch a chunk of concrete from a neglected cold war era bunker that was 50 feet from our resort hotel. : )

Can't get enough of those asbestos mixed concrete pieces that are like collecting boat anchors, but seriously watch picking up that kind of stuff...it could be dangerous to have around....just a caution to consider.

Thanks for the warning, didn't even consider the fact that the concrete might have asbestos in it. : (

In my opinion, original caps have no star and flag. Those ones are for tourists. Here comes 2 photos showing cuban soldiers.

Nice uniforms! ...the cut looks very much inspired by the american BDU...but what I find more interesting is the belt.
That is a good looking Belt!!
Would love to see one more in detail.
                      Cheers,

                      Alex

I want to thank all who offered opinions on the hat I posted. The photos offered did clear the air for me. I am late in this, sorry. daniel tarr817j

Just a souvenir. Cubans never adopted red star on cap
