    A Cautionary Tale

    Gentlemen,

A few months ago I ask a question about a German dealer, Torsten Kabel seeking opinions on his honesty. I had purchased a rather expensive DDR tunic from him six months ago that he had touted on the DDR Collectors Forum on Gunboards. I never received the tunic and he no longer answers my emails. I promised this militaria board that I would update you on my problems with him and his response since he frequents this board and many of you have dealt with him.

You may make your own decisions on the honesty of Herr Kabel but I, and another member of the other board, have been cheated. Torsten Kabel's words are documented on the Gunboards DDR Forum for all to see. In a public exchange on the Gunboards forum, Herr Kabel said the post office lost the packages and had paid him the insurance after a few months and that he would send me a refund. He has not done so and the last communication I had from him was a month ago when he supposedly mailed a refund. I have been cheated by this dealer.

I would suggest that you exercise caution when dealing with Torsten Kabel in the future and consider this a cautionary tale from one who has lost quite a bit of money.

I deal a lot in German Militaria items and A lot of my customers will only know me as TORSTEN, but I am becoming concerned about this Torsten Kabel potentially giving me a bad name...I am not him and I do not know him. My name is Torsten Belger and I have never ripped anyone off...No need to respond...just felt I had to make this statement. Cheers, Torsten Belger.

I had it when other dealers (and especially ones called Torsten.. give us German Militaria dealers a bad name and reputation). Cheers, Torsten Belger.
