    Soviet Pilotka

Hello, I have just got this 41 dated pilotka. Any comments or info would be appreciated. It is greener than the photos show, a dark brownish green. Many thanks, Doug

        [Hello,
I don't like the different quality of imitation leather and material with a stamp. One lot of material used .Another where the seal looks new . The other star ,I think the seventies. There needs to be enamel or green field.
        Sincerely Sergei

The name, what it is written with? Looks like a ball pen was used. The regular ink would have spread out a bit.

Yes, it looks like someone used a ball pen. I´m not sure about this cap either, but i do know that the star is post-war.

Thanks for the comments. Komandir RKKA, do you think the badge is wartime?

I had an original Box of opaque painted late War Cap Stars like this one.
Later Stars I know with the transparent red paint.
Also the Ballpaint Ink is no problem to me. Who know's when this one was issued.
I had Pilotkas from the Soviets in Germany, made in the 1950's and 60's but with Service Numbers from the late 80's. The Stuff wasn't thrown away at the End of the Year.

Unfortunatly, can't define the star cocarde.

What puzzles me is the heavy wear on the leather sweatband but just above is a stamp which is like new. When sweat has an effect on the leather sweatband it should also have an effect on the stamp. Therefor I think a bogus stamp was added to an original cap.

                          Good original cap.

The faux leather sweatband material tends to flake away with age.

                          Cheers, Ade.
