    Fake jubilee medals?

    Hello my fellow collectors!

I have a question concerning jubilee medals, are they Being copied?
Reason i ask is because i recently bought a bunch of medals of ebay and found some of them suspect mostly this 1918-1978 medal with what i Find to be a very poor ring on it.

The bunch i bought were all very worn and torn and some had replaced suspencion rings and one was the Wrong medal to its ribbon.

So i just wondered are they copied and is this a copy?

I think it's original. From Time to time you find such misfits in Lot's. I also had some many years ago with Stuff, directly picked up at the Depot.

              Looks legit to me...

I agree with uscob, looks legitimate to me.
A factory screw up that made it past quality control.
The profit margin to faking these would be little to none in my opinion.

              regards,

I agree with leaftree , why someone would fake a 5$ medal when you can fake a 1000$ one ?

Anyway if your not happy with this one finding another would be very easy, If it bug you too much just buy another exemple of this very common medal!

A few years back I used to buy those medal (all of the one on your picture) for about 1-2$ each and resell 5 to 7$ each.

If you travel to the Baltic countries, you can still buy these for 1 Euro/piece. So i agree with the earlier writers, making copies is simply a waste of time and money.

                  Nice lot!
                  Regards,

                    Hi.
The circulation of these medals was huge.Today, the cost in Russia is minimal. The cost of manufacturing today is more than the selling price. These medals are not fake.
                    Sincerely Sergei

It's original since reproducing these is not profitable for the reasons stated above. If you'll look attentively at the reverse suspension ring at 3 o'clock you will see "ЛМД" which is an abbreviation for "Leningrad Mint."

There's the catch. Who's going to travel to the Baltic to buy 1 Euro medals?

I travel to the Baltic countries at least once a year, to buy militaria. I always buy a bunch of these standard jubilee medals when there. And many others do aswell. Thats why you can buy them for 5-10 Euros on eBay later.
So even if the most people cant travel to the Baltics to buy, theres still no profit in making copies.

                          Regards,
                          Erik
