Soviet Cold War Tall EM Boot and uniform question ?

Can someone help with for info on Cold War Soviet EM Tall Boots...

Looking to see what the differences are in the sole pattern.. on boots from the early-Mid 80's and on 1989 & later..

On some versions I see round "Knobbies" on the sole and others a type of "Lug" bar sole.. The Bar sole is on a pair dated 1989... I think the "Knobbie" sole is earlier.. Can someone confirm this ?

any guidance or input would be most welcome...

and also.. can someone elaborate on what winter uniform a Motorized Rifle Infantryman would have worn in Europe circa 1985-86

Yes, the 'Knobbies' sole is earlier. The 'Lug' sole boots appeared in the 80s and looked and felt cheaper than 'Knobbies' sole boots. The 'Lug' sole tall boots are much lighter though.
