Created 31 October 1967, this attractive Order seems basically to have been used as a surrogate for the Order of Lenin from the 1970s on. Typical of Soviet "all purpose" awards, it could be awarded for everything from getting in crops to combat heroism.

Soviet Order of the October Revolution

In 1974, the earlier 4 rivets reverse was changed to this 5 rivets type, because a single rivet for the hammer and sickle led to spinning of that emblem.
This particular Order, #94,269 was awarded to A. F. Gebultovsky on 22 December 1977. The "I" serial number Orders Booklet (1967 edition) indicated a political issue.
All Orders from the 1970s on seem to have been given out each with their own Orders Booklet, no longer adding additional awards to an existing booklet. There may have been exceptions, but this seems to have been the rule. I have never encountered an October Revolution that was NOT a lone award in its Orders Booklet.
Given the fact that this Order was ranked immediately after the Order of Lenin (and seems actually to have all but replaced Lenin awards), it is rather a "bargain" for its usual price. (Of course, the "value" of an Order of Lenin is NOT in its rarity but simply in the scrap BULLION value of the Lenin's platinum and gold!)Attached Files
