    Awards for ID

    As I believe these poorly-made pieces to be Communist Block (China?) awards, I am posting them here for identification, please.

    All appear to be made of copper.

    The first (upper left) pin-back award shows two male faces in profile with reddish enamel (paint?) around the stars and, in addition to Chinese (?) characters is dated 1954 on the reverse;

    The second (lower left) pin-back award has the outer portions of the obverse finished in a dark green enamel or paint, also with character lettering on the reverse (but no date);

    The third 10-pointed star - the central 5-point star being finished in a reddish enamel or paint - depicts at the center a soldier and the Communist hammer and sickle symbol at the top. The reverse bears the date "1947". The pin is missing from the reverse ribbon suspender device;

    The fourth award is in the shape of a Maltese Cross the arms of which are enameled (painted?) in an off-white color, with the representation of a horseback rider slaying a serpent or dragon at the center. The suspension device is of two metal pieces (the upper with a fastening pin) joined by a coarse type of ribbon. No markings.

    Any and all assistance in identifying these will be appreciated.

    Thanks and regards,

    John

    Still searching for some details of these four awards. I think that the following might apply:

    1. A Chinese Communist Party award
    2. A Peoples Republic of China army badge
    3. A Chinese PRA civil war award
    4. ?

    I have seen pictures of Chinese army officers with their uniforms literally covered with medals and badges...not only on the chest, but arms and legs of their uniform! Given the obvious plethora of such military and Communist Party awards, I am sure that these four must fit in somewhere...assuming that one can find a spot on which to pin them!

      4 is a rendition of an Imperial Russian St. George Cross.
      Thanks,

        Thanks for the feedback, Eric. Just for clarification, by rendition I understand you to mean that the Chinese used the Imperial Russian St. George Cross as a model for this one shown and basically copied it. Is my assumption correct?

          I personally wouldn't touch any of these with a ten foot pole. The Chinese have been turning out thousands of copies of old awards, some real, some fantasy, for over a decade. To me, these all look like classic copies of awards that have all been artificially aged.

          Just my opinion...

            I don't know for sure but I think it's just a cheap imitation. A trinket if you will.
            Thanks,
