    Militia gulag guards tunic ww2

I bought a collection of Soviet WW2 tunics which I would like to share and will post them all but this is one of the rare ones which was a tunic worn by a Militia guard at a Gulag which equates to a concentration camp guard.I am still trying to find out what rank he was.

Did this GULAG sleeve patch really exist? I checked several references, but didin't find it anywhere. There was a sleeve badge for NKVD personel, but completely different.

Here are some links (in russian, but you can see the pictures):

Stars on the collar tabs are postwar/pre-1954 type for junior commander's shoulder-boards.

Also, I would be interested in seeing a view under the pocket flaps and of the interior, especially around the pocket areas.

My intuition is telling me that this has been refashioned from an M43 Gymnasterka for NKPS.

The fabric certainly is the same type...
