I find the 1st model Mabuta in "arid" pink fabric very intriguing. I thought this tropical typed existed only in the second version - since 1983.

Pink mabuta-1 used in Afganistan up to 1989.
Second version - since 1981

I'm curious, did the paratroopers of the late 1980s go into combat in their berets or were they also equipped with a ballistic helmet? I've only ever seen them in berets or the airborne soft protective covers.

In 70's vdv did not have steel helmet. Only berets and soft helmet. steel helmets appeared when created DSHB.
