    Short, concrete description of his combat feat or merits:

    As a Rifleman in the 227th Rifle Regiment, 27th Rifle Division on the 1st Belorussian Front he was engaged in the crossing of the Oder River.

    Continuing their movement after crossing the river, the platoon was ordered to attack and seize an enemy firing emplacement on the outskirts of a village near Berlin.

    Opening fire and moving towards the enemy while showering them with grenades, their resistance was broken and the squad captured the firing point.

    On 16.4.45 under the cover of Artillery fire, the enemy launched a counterattack, trying to retake the town. Under the violent artillery barrage comrade Kanatsui was seriously wounded in the leg. His leg was amputated in evacuation hospital No 1722.

    He currently works at his own (one man) farm.
