    WWII Soviet helmet question

    Hello all.

What might I be expected to pay for a WW II vintage Soviet helmet with red star?

Also, can anyone recommend a reference book (preferably in English) for Russian/Soviet helmets and headgear?

    Thanks in advance.

This is quite a good book about Russian helmets: "Russian Helmets 1916-2001" by Robert W. Clawson

    Regards,
    Marcel

Yes, unfortunately this book was written ( 1997 ) when there was very little consistent information on the Soviet helmets.
However, it can discover the different models, 36/39/40 ...

That depends on what pattern helmet your after Ssh36 or Ssh39 model ?, both are not easy to find they are alot rarer, an "original" helmet with the
factory star applied would be around $1500-$2000 mark for either pattern depending on condition and what country you buy from.

There are alot of postwar Czech helmets being avertised as WWII Soviet helmets on the net, make sure you do your homework.

                Good luck.

Thanks for the info. Do you perhaps know of other, more reliable error-free books dealing about Soviet helmets?

                  Thanks in advance!

This book does not yet exist, as with many things in the Soviet militaria
