Order of Patriotic War 1st Class Gold?

    Hi all,

I have these two Orders in my collection. Obviously 1985ish issue that I know ... however, the one appears to be badly tarnished on the obverse, but when you take the screwback plate off the reverse, there is quite a bit of gold still present. Am I safe to assume that the bottom one is a 1st Class Gold issue?

    Thanks.

    2nd Class (Silver)

    1st Class (Gold)??

What you have is a Type 3 also known as the 1985 issue Orders of Great Patriotic War. The top one is a second class with about 5.5 million issued.
The bottom one is a first class with about 2 million issued.

They are made of silver with gold-plated details.

      Rusty.
