Thanks for the link. I'm kind of new at collecting medals as I have been collecting only a few months. So far I've concentrated on Soviet awards but now I'm thinking of branching also into the Bulgarian awards. The Soviet are starting to get very expensive. Would you know of a good website which would give some sort of a price list or a Bulgaria Award forum other than this one of course. Thanks

I have never seen a price list for Bulgarian awards but I can assure you that compared to the rising cost of Soviet awards the cost of Bulgarian items are bargin prices. Most Bulgarian Orders can be picked up for under $80.00 dollars. The dealer in the link that I provided has about the lowest prices around, however his inventory is limited. Your best bet on finding good deals and selection of Bulgarian items is eBay. Other then the Order of George Dimitrov and the Hero of the Peoples Republic of Bulgaria I don't think they are faking too many of these awards.

Thanks. Not much faking would be a relief from Soviet awards. Why is it that the Bulgarian awards aren't expensive? No demands from collectors yet? And does Bulgaria have a similar law as Russia prohibiting removing medals from their country?

I think the limited demand for Bulgarian Communist awards is what keeping the prices low. Don't get me wrong there are a few Commie Bulgarian Order that sellfor over $900 (Order of Balkan Mountain and the Order of the Rose). As far as I know Bulgaria has no laws preventing the exportion of awards...which is a good thing.

I know of only one reference book concerning Bulgarian Awards and that is "Bulgarian Communist Titles Orders and Medals 1945-2002, Collector's Reference Guide" by Boyan Savov.

                      Danny:

There also has been several thread on this forum (Comunist Bloc) concerning Bulagarian awards. If you conduct a search using the word "Bulagarian" you should find most of them.

Went and visited with Isaak and his store today. He does have quite a bit of medals, but mostly only the Jubilee ones. Not quite what I am looking for but very pleasant. I'll check with him from time to time.
