    Order of the Red Star

Greetings guys, I picked up this badge at the flea market for 10 euros today, and I searched in the forum a bit for more info regarding this piece. I did find out that it was probably produced in 1944 due to the number it has inscribed in the back, and that there were around 4 million awarded in total. Does anyone have any other info on this order, and was it found at the right price?

Looks like a nice Type 2 , full-flared, Monetny Dvor Red Star with a hand engraved serial number. Is there a small base at the screwpost? 10 Euros is a good price. Not especially rare but a beautiful medal. I love the Red Stars and the Patriotic War Orders.
      Thanks,

Thanks immensely for the info Eric and here's a closer shot of the back since I don't know what you were referring to as the small base

Ya see how the screw post goes directly into the back of your Red Star? The "base" would be a one-step tier between the screwpost and the back. Just kinda like a small round nut at the bottom of the post. Yours ain't got one (which isn't neccessarily a bad thing).
          Thanks,

Besian, if you plan on buying *any* other Soviet medals or badges you must, absolutley, unequivocally, purchase "The Comprehensive Guide To Soviet Orders And Medals" by Paul McDaniel and Paul J. Schmitt. It's an awesome tome. Worth every penny. I suspect there are a few reviews of it here on this page.

              Lemme look.....
              Thanks,
