Chinese Awards to a Soviet - with Photos!

I figured Rick would enjoy this if no one else does...

I've owned this group for about a year, but FINALLY got the documents today! I've owned about a dozen groups with Chinese awards, but none with more than just the pink document. So, this group is really neat.

There are two pink documents "standard issue", so to speak. There is a large document in Chinese, and then it's Russian translation. Additionally, there are three photos - one of the recipient and two other Soviet officers in Port Arthur, the other of two Chinese soldiers with writing on the reverse.

My Russian is okay, but not sufficient to make it through the Russian translation of the big document, so I'll have to get it translated. Once I get the translation, I'll post it up here.

    Enjoy!

      Sino-Soviet Friendship medal

The large Chinese document is addressed to a specific Soviet advisor and his team, from the military district that presumably benefited much from the Soviets' international spirit and boundless wisdom (kinda like what Rick and others bring to this place everyday ). As near as I could tell from the bits and pieces that are legible in these photos, it's a "thank you and farewell" letter.

The dedication on the back of one of the souvenir photos (from the guy with the Nazischnitt, whose name is Liu, just like a certain Airforce cook) is addressed to a Soviet advisor and his wife. It mentions of "improving the great, eternal, unbreakable sino-soviet friendship". I wonder if the guy with the comb-back, who must be the more educated of the two, for the fact that he could write Russian and afford a more expensive haircut, had anything more insightful to say...

The back of the small photo on the right written in Russian reads:

To Comrade advisor M.A. Tolkachev from Chinese interpreter Go Chtun-Lyand on 17.11.55. (There is an adjective before "comrade advisor" that I think is meant to be "dear" but because it is not written by a native Russian speaker I'm not 100% sure)

If you want the big Russian document translated, contact me off-line.

Here are some closeups of the stuff:

First, the text of the Russian document:

Next, the text of the Chinese document (assumed the same as the Russian):

Now, the insides of the pink books. Only one has the blue paper translation:

And, just for Rick, the reverse of the books:

              Hi there-

Thanks to my Malaysian friend here is the exact (pretty much) translation to the big document in Chinese:

" Dear comrade Turantaev and people of the consultant party: after we finish handing over of duty at somewher close to Luda, you guys have shown noble internationalism and selfless sincerity and brotherhood-like emotions. After months of suffering, putting effort and wisdom and taking one step forward to realisation in succesfully directing and helping us to smoothly complete the preparation for war and training close to the place calle Shunkou and greatly enhancing th frienship between th people of China and the USSR, effectively rising the modernisation of military science and technology in the Luda region. As a representative of the army and warriors of the Shunkou region to you our dearest Trantaev comrade and fellow consultant we give our heartfelt appreciesion and thanks.
Dearest comrade! You guys are on the verge of bidding farewell to the place which is Luda region that you have defended for over ten years and the Chinese people there that you have treated like part of your family, bidding farewell to the friendship that is based on our people that have been working under your direction and help back to your noble and respectable country. Though we are parting for the moment but, the things that you have taught on, the most advanced in the world, the most powerful science and ideals of the Soviet military, will be deeply printed in our hearts and will continue to play the role of guiding the direction of our military; the commitment and resposibility that you have put into the practical job, the selfless spirits will forever be our role-model.
Dearest comrade! We are about to say goodbye, we will sincerely promise to you: the defense of Lu-Shunkou before any enemy will hold without fall before our own base.
Dearest comrade and friends, I wish you a safe journey back to your country, and I wish you good health.
              Best regards!
              (SOME RUSSIAN)

              1955 November day 27"

A bit of a woffle, but hope this helps, all the best
