WW2 Veteran Portrait Photo - what occassion?

This photo was officially stamped and signed, etc. Does anyone know what the occassion was? I know that it is dated 1971, but why has it been stamped and signed on the back? Cheers, Torsten.

Looks like it is a file photo. On the back it says: "Personality of the commander of military part/unit 74010, younger colonel Boris Vasilievich Kalabin. I confirm, second in command of part 74010, captain Marhev."

      Hope it helps,

      Jack

Thank you jack. Is there any way of finding out what unit 74010 was? Cheers, Torsten.

The stamp says the same thing, unit 74010. I have no idea. Maybe our Russian members would help.

The man on the photo is medical service officer and the unit also is medical unit - picture signed by medical service captain.

Shouldn´t he wear the snake & cup insignia on the collar tabs instead of the Infantry ones?

Yes, this man has on collar tabs "general army emblem".
But he also has "Excellent in health protection" badge and his photo was signed bu medical service officer - he is definitly the doc.
