    early WW2 Soviet private

    In sharp contrast to all of these high quality WW2 general's tunics in Doug's collection, here is a simple 'cannon fodder' early war gimnasterka and pilotka. I just picked up the pullover today at the Napredak show in the Bay Area.

      It might be in stark contrast to the two earlier posts of General Parade Tunics, but this outfit goes a lot further toward conjuring up images of a cold, bleak, and outright frightening Eastern Front. Plain but very nice (and significant).

          That is very nice! The cap is interesting in that it appears to have been made from courderoy material. I've never seen one like that before.

            This material is actually fairly common for pilotkas made before 1941 or so.
