There are dozens of variations! I have them with blue and red backgrounds in different sizes and materials. Here's an example from my collection:

Any idea about dates vs designs?

The earlier ones were made from silver with beautifull cold enameling, with time they lost silver and went to different tombacs with OK enameling to some cheap stuff with hot enamels.

I've seen a few variations where the busts of Lenin & Marx were replaced by a globe with LMU (Lenenism Marxism University) on later cheaper badges...
