A tough badge to get anymore. Problem is, theres about three generations of these badges, maybe more I forget.... so heres a page with one shown, so you may get the feel for retail. I dont like the front condition as much on the one on evil B, but likely is just oxidation from time(probably will clean upif you clean stuff) .

The way to get these anymore is to buy one from someone who got one after the wall fell, and isn't into it any more, as you can buy one from an american always cheaper than a russian dealer(russians are always too high on everything).

They were dirt cheap when the cold war supposedly ended, and I recall seeing buckets of red stars for 20. each, when in 69 they were 275. If you could even find one for sale.

I also have heard the russians are not allowing any more awards to leave the country. I think they would like to get many back among other things sold to be able to eat at that time. The trick was to load up on em at that time, then save the lot for 20 years or more before allowing any to change hands.

This may allow you to compare , and I believe in the future, the russian orders will far surpass the germans in value and collectibility, as they at least made their awards out of real silver or gold for high awards, and the germans made few awards with any silver , and used the cheapest materials for theirs. Kinda reminds me of the american awards. The russians also deserve much credit for their german killing abilities after what they saw the germans do to them, so it kinda makes thinking about snagging a few sleepers before the craze gets under full steam. ANY AUTHENTIC EARLY russian awards should be sandbagged asap.

Looks good to me. From the concentric rings around the screw post it appears to be a Type 3 which are a common feature for this type. Here is mine for comparison.

Personally I don't trust eBay Reich or Soviet medals. I don't like the look of the Maker Mark on the eBay. Numbering looks rather fishy too.

I tend to like it although I'd need to see much better images of it to bid.
          Thanks,

What concerns me are some of the same seller's other medals.
Take a look at the Order of the Patriotic War, second class, that he is selling.
The enamel around the central medallion, which should be white, is red on the one that he has.

And while it is difficult to judge many Soviet awards based simply on the photographs, some of the pieces that he is offering just appear to be somewhat "strange" to me from the standpoint of their finishes. True, some of that may simply be age, but several of them just look odd to me.

I know, ain't that weird???? I was planning on showing that at the Soviet forum to see what they think.
And it looks like he's selling a 'one of each' type collection.
              Thanks,

Thanks for the comment,i agree that russians deserve allot more credit for WW2,its not covered much here since us and russia were at cold war + political reasons to increase patriotism, after all soviets destroyed over 70% of german/axis forces and lost close to 30 million fighting.

I really like thet type 1 on collectrussia, have been drooling looking at that example but the price is way to much for my budget.
The other example is very with great story, but it has been heavily cleaned, all finish is gone + allot of details on obverse is gone as well.

thank you for posting your example, looks great, something i don't like about the one on ebay, reverse looks strange, but again i have almost no knowledge about this award, one thing for sure yours look much more authentic that the one i posted for opinions.

Agreed ebay is not the best place to buy such awards, unless one really knows what he is buying.

Thanks Eric, agree with you, hard to judge this awards with less than ok pictures.
