    Soviet badges

    Hello all

I have these two soviet medals, which I don't really know much about.

As far as I know, this Red Star was awarded in 1944?

The Great Patriotic war seems to be a post-war issue.

    Am I right?

Similar serial numbered Stars were awarded in April-June 1944.

The serial number looks kinda strange, do you have a better picture?

                          Hi Diaspora,
The Red Star is fine, exactly as it should be for a '44 issue star. This pattern is the most common and is classed as a type 3, variation 2 star, with the correct number series for the style of it. The engraved number is very neat compared to a lot of others, but these were done by different engravers and done by hand, so a neat number doesn't mean much in the way of telling an original or not. As the others have said, the OPW is an '85 issue and is what it is, not worth much as a collectable item.

                          Regards,
                          Brett

Hello all and thanks for the interest!

This is about as close as I get on the Red Star number, from the pictures I have

Regarding the Great Patriotic War, i suspected this! Probably paid somewhat more for it than its worth, but that goes on the "getting more experienced account".
