    Soviet Guards Badge

    Here is a soviet Guards badge that I picked up the other day. Can anyone tell me if this is a original? I'm guessing these are quite common and have low value, but everything is being faked these days. Is it posible to date this badge? I know there was many variations of this particular badge.
    Picked up a russian hat badge aswell.

        To the best of my knowledge, World War II vintage Guard's Badges DO NOT have a fringe to the bottom of the flag.

            Some time back I read that the Guards badges with pin attachments were developed for use by the female members of Guards units, so that they were not required to poke holes in their uniforms.
            I do not know if that is accurate.

                There is no basis to this. Men don't like poking holes in their uniforms any more or less than women.

                  Pins instead of screwbacks came to most Armed Forces badges in late USSR.
                  And that process wasn't depend on soldier or officer's sex.
