Soviet Navy Officer Pilotka Hat Badges?

Which one of these badges were correct for use on Navy officer pilotkas during the Soviet times?

Looks like the ones in the first two images are bent to better fit the pilotkas. Especially the first one. Not sure if the second is bent or the same as in the one in the third pic (which if so, then the 3rd pic seems to be stretched a little too much horizontally).

Were completely unbent badges like those used in visors in the third one used for pilotkas back then? Fourth image looks like the embroidered ones with the embroidery removed. Is that right?

And who used the embroidered ones and when (time periods)? I know the others are from the 70's / 80's.

    Thanks very much!

    Durandal,

The embroidered cocarde was used by 1st rank Captains (Navy equivalent to Colonel) and upper ranks.

The bend (or curve) in each badge was applied by the sailors themselves, something you'll find is not easily or quickly done if you ever try it. That's the reason why virtually all of the pilotkas being worn in the background of scenes in The Hunt for Red October have flat badges on them... the movie studio art department either did not know that experienced Soviet naval officers regularly did the bending or the movie people decided that it was too much of a hassle to make each badge curve nicely around the front of each cap.

      Regards.

All cocardes except #3 (it's the central part for late embroidered type) are fit to Navy officer's sidecap.
The last embroidered one is late 50-ies - early 60-ies worn by all ship stuff officer categories.
The bend metall cocarde also is normal. Usually officers bend cocardes according to shape of sidecap (flat cocarde on sidecap looks really funny )

Thanks for the input. That's very interesting, the badge bending. I thought briefly maybe the officers bent it themselves but found it unlikely and I also assumed that a pilotka badge would have prongs that come out from the top and bottom, as opposed to the sides. XD

Like the badge on the left here.

I have a couple of those Navy badges myself and it must have took a hell of a long time throughout the year to bend them. Where they bent with tools are with their bare hands? Thanks for the input, everyone.
