Thanks for the input, richard. I've been using that site you linked to as well and from there I understand also that the capt 1st rank used the french wire embroidery hat badge instead of the metal one? Also, are those buttons easy to replace?

to be honest I don't know if you can find the buttons easily or not.



but as to the embroidery, the photo's that I posted and seen, embroidered leafs are correct but i'm not an expert on that.

Even so, I still like the metal ones because they are easier to get but owning a Capt. 1st Rank or Admirals hat that already has the embroidery would be a plus.

One day I hope to get a Naval Winter jacket like in the photo I posted of Putin or as Capt. 1st rank Anatoly Dolgov.

Here are two photos of Capt. 1st rank Anatoly and what I like about these two photos is that in the first photo you can see that he doesn't have a patch on his arm and on the other one he clearly does.

Getting the embroidered badges and replacement buttons shouldn't be too much a problem. When I asked if the buttons are easy to replace, I meant are they easily removable from the hat? And easy to fasten back into place? It's easy to do so on visor caps for example but I've never owned a karakul hat like this.

Great uniforms though I'd prefer owning one of those Soviet Navy officer parade uniforms. You know the ones with the sabres and all?
