Because this thread is getting too long, will start new ones for photos and medal bars from 1950s, 1960s, etc.

This is Guards Lieutenant S. T. Kapustin. Note that he is wearing ARTILLERY uniform: he was a member of the 24th RIFLES Regiment, ca 1948, probably in an anti-tank platoon. Although he had 1945 Victory Over Japan and 1948 Jubilee--so at least 3 years service, he still appears to be 13 years old!

Major General G. N. Karaev of the Military Transport Academy, May 1947. Umm... must have been a Charlie Chaplin fan, huh? (I guess the Secret Police never noticed his face fuzz... lucky he wasn't "denounced" for it!!!!)

Here's a version of dress without full awards, only Orders. This is Guards Lieutenant Colonel of Reserves S. F. Kapustin, taken January 1948. Note the larger M1918 RSFSR Order of the Red Banner next to the M1924 "2"nd award CCCP Red Banner.

ALSO noted on the back of this ID photo from his residence district is that the unfortunate Lt. Col. had been arrested in 1938--having ONCE been unjustly arrested, that was usually "sufficient grounds" to be RE-arrested anytime there was a shortage in some OTHER purge....

A Top Secret Mystery: Air Force Technical Senior Lieutenant P. Ya. Kamzolov circa 1947 is wearing a MOST unusual Red Banner (he has not even served 10 years yet), as well as the 1939 "Excellent Serviceman" Badge over his right pocket. The verification stamp is from the deceptively vague "Chief of Administration, Manufacturing." Manufacturing... something so secret that a mere "monkey" Lt. got himself an ORB for testing/design?...

And to segue out of the 1940s thread into the 1950s, here is P. Ya. Kamzolov AGAIN, as an Engineer Technical Captain in February 1951 wearing M1949 full dress-- note the awards in reverse "Frackspange" wear-- each individually, not bar mounted--and that he is now sporting M1949 Flight Engineer wings-- and has (again, MOST uncharacteristically for one of his junior rank and branch) added an Order of Lenin!!!

This one is stamped and signed by the Engineer Colonel in Charge of the LABORATORY of the ominous sounding "Platform" ("Kafedra") "Number 17"... jet propulsion? Atomic?...

              UFF! Nice pictures!

Nearly all of the construction bureaus people got military ranks in the Stalin time. But they got more Red Banners of Labour or Order of the Sign of Honor or the Stalin Price Medal. So this guy must be a "real" career soldier.

              Best regards

              Daniel
