    Order of lenin

    Type 6 Variation 1:

    http://www.emedals.ca/catalog.asp?item=R462

Funny thing ... 6 hours ago when first listed, it was $2000 .... now ....

Wow ... looks like I can still make a profit on my Soviet stuff I got years ago ... even assuming this one is marked up over 100% of what it should be listed as ....

It's a real Lenin. One of the most common of the Lenin, made in the 1980s until the fall in 1991.

      Really? You think?

      Anyway .....

It was the increase in price from 2000 to 2450 a few hours after listing i though interesting. Not that $2000 is even close to what these should sell for these days.

Durov's excellent 2005 Russian language book indicates that an Order of Lenin with a "280636" serial number and the full Leningrad Mint inscription would have been struck between 1951 and 1955. Of course the actual award date could, in theory, have been awarded as late as 1991; after all, Stalin's second and third Orders of Lenin were only five digits apart but there was a four of five year time period between them. You just know that they came from a supply in a drawer in the Kremlin that wasn't reached into all that often for awards!

              Regards!

that is the asking price and may well not be the same as the selling price .... so, the asking price is not necessarily a reflection of the value of the item, rather than a reflection of the wishful thinking of the person offering it for sale. Cheers, Torsten.

Exactly... Asking is one thing, actually getting it another... We also keep criticizing Collect Russia for their astronomical prices, but the fact that most of their merchandise has been listed on their site for many years indicates that their prices are far above the market value.
