A "Zhukov"-style dress uniform tunic and cap of a full Colonel of the KGB. These exceptionally elegant uniforms were introduced in 1955 and were soon replaced by new uniform regulations in 1958. The jacket is exceptionally clean, particularly inside, reflecting the fact that Soviet KGB personnel rarely wore uniforms, particularly dress uniforms.
The fact that this is for a Colonel of State Security makes it particularly interesting to me. If he was a Colonel in 1955, then he might well have been a career Chekist, with service dating back to the revolution. Unfortunately, we'll never know for sure.
But I think that it is a superb uniform.
