    3 Soviet medals...

I finally made some time to take some pics from my three Soviet medals which I have for quite some time. I have a good feeling about all three of them and the website http://mondvor.narod.ru/OPatWar.html has helped me a lot. Fortunately my girlfriend is Russian so she could translate all for me to make all the variations more clear to me. Still I would like to get an opinion from more experienced collectors in this field of collecting.

The first one is a Defense of Leningrad medal which has a double plated backplate and which I think is a variation 1 type of medal.

The second one is a Defense of Moscow medal which has a double plated backplate and which I think is a variation 1 type of medal.

The last one is a Vicory over Germany medal which I think is a variation 4c (which has the L slightly left from the ring). This one also came with its document, dated August 1946.
By the way, the yellow color is a bit darker than can be seen on the picture. The sunlight was annoying my camera to get the colors right hehe

Thanks for looking and possible comments! It'll be much appreciated
    Marcel

If these are really original as I think they are. I am no expert, not even close to being one so it would be nice to get a confirmation if my thoughts on these three are correct (not just orginality but also type of variation)

The Defense of Leningrad and Defense of Moscow are definately wartime or late 40's standard issues. The Victory Over Germany medal is a version 3 medal as you can tell from the gold wash and ring. That was issued to people who never got one after WWII. The version 3 was issued in the 1960's.

Thanks for the additional information vacollector!
I indeed noticed the ring of the Victory over Germany medal and I thought it was even a variation 4 type because a Var 3 has an even different ring (see http://mondvor.narod.ru/MPobGerm.html) plus the position of the letters L and O towards the ring. The funny thing than is that the document that came with the medal is dated August 1946. Of course it can be that both medal and document never belonged to eachother or is it also possible that the 1946 medal got lost and was replaced by a '60s model?

Many veterens were issued the new type 3 awards of the twentith anniversy of the war. It was basically so they would wear new awards during the parades. The only exception was themedal for the Liberation of Belgrade. That medal was not to be worn and no type 3 was ever made.
