My Soviet/Early Russian Federation Uniform Collection

I just wanted to share with you guys the pride and joy of my hobby. I recently aquired uniforms that are examples in the book "Camouflage Uniforms of the Soviet Union and Russia" written by Dennis Desmond. These belonged to Joe Caliri who had passed away on the 3rd of December. I purchased nearly his entire collection of uniforms, however, to honor him, his uniforms still reside in his name.

Really nice. It's a long time ago, that I had a similar collection. When I switched to collect only Allied forces Berlin, I sold most of them.
Only a few Items are left.

I would say during the mid to late 80's, until the mid to late 90's, the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation probably experimented with several hundred different camouflage variations. Alot of the experimental camouflage's were all gone by the late 90's. It's very difficult to find them today.

Therein lies the beauty of this hobby, trying to collect as many of the different colour variations and patterns as you can.

Hey guys I had the opportunity to meet with Joe's friend that was selling his collection and talk with him. It really brought me back in time to the "old guard" of Eastern bloc collectors. I liked hearing the stories of insanely priced Warsaw pact stuff in the 80's when there was still a iron curtain looming over Eastern Europe. 200+ dollar NVA helmet makes me break out in a sweat!

I was also able to look through his collection and pick through some of the rarer items my primary focus being items I could fit into and items of the KGB Border guards. To complete the picture of Joe's collection a bit more I will post his items in his memory, RIP to a great collector.

                  Border guard oversuit

                  Visor cap on the left

                  First pattern panama

                  Beret

                  KLMK boonie

                  Butan Kepi's

                  TTsKO (1993, 54-6)
