    USSR soviet flag

I am trying to find a period WW2 soviet/Russian national flag. I seems t o be a virtually impossible task or I am looking in the wrong places. Has anyone got any advice, because I am clueless and getting rally frustrated. . You can only work through so many www pages. Any help or advice would be highly appretiated. Jacques

    Hello jacquesf:
Not an easy flag to find as even the Russians in WW2
had the same problem - the famous Soviet Union flag
raised over the Berlin Reichstag in 1945 was made from
meeting room table covers from the Tass news agency.
Suggest you ask a quite reliable eBay seller Kortex2, who
does from time to time come up with some great items.

I believe this one may be WWII vintage, the rough texture, and the brass grommets, also the size of the sickle blade seems longer on earlier one. Nice size too @ around 2' x 3'

It does look like pre 1955 version of the flag. Sickle going over the hammer. It can be.

          Very cool flag !
I've never seen a Soviet-made flag that had either a white edge along the hoist side, or which used metal grommets for attachment.
All of the Soviet flags that I've seen used rope fastenings.
I'm wondering if it might have been non-Soviet made?
          Perhaps even US made?
American-produced flags of the 1940's onwards used white edging on the hoist and brass grommets.

It seems to be the wrong format too, should be 1:2 rather than 2:3.
Never seen grommets either, I would lean toward foreign manufacture.

Talking different era flags; In my collection, I have a Finnish made Soviet flag with sickle over hammer, sewn on. On of few I have seen made from several parts. It has rope attachments.

I think this is Soviet Union state flag used on vessels.
