    Rusty,

Where are the rivets that hold the order together?

      The rivets are there.
They just broke off and are still sitting in the back piece.

        I see.

For some strange reasons many Mongolian orders often are sold with broken/damaged rivets.

One Mongolian dealer told me that national logo that you see on all Mongolian orders has very special meaning even today and that owners were trying to remove the logo before parting with award.

I am not sure I buy this explanation though ...

It seems like the construction of Mongolian awards was not as good as it's soviet brothers...

Then again, I don't know if the later 1945 on pieces were actually minted in Russia. The early ones had the mint mark from MonDvor/Monetny Dvor but the ones I usually see broken are the later non marked pieces...

What's the serial number on YOUR fallen apart Polar? Maybe they had a bad batch at the foundry that week/year!

Exactly, say that particular batch was produced during Russian holidays when most of the workers used to get boozed and quality decreased...

I cleaned all of the gunk that was on the 2 pieces... now, what do you suggest I use to re-attach these together? Do you think superglue will hold?

                      Try epoxy glue.

Khalin Gol badge. Awarded for the struggle against the Japanese in 1939. A lot of soviet soldiers received it.
