    Soviet Flag Top ?

    Hello

I have this very old Flag Top added to my collection , I like it very much .
I bought it as an Flag Top from a communist party , from the early thirties .
Could it be a Soviet Flag Top ?
I know there where other countries and organisations , using this symbol .
So , if there is somebody who can tell me more about it , I would appreciate it .
The hight of this little jewel is 23,5 cm .

Wow. That's very cool. I expected the usual poletop, not something like this.
        Thanks for showing us!

                    Hi Ben

                    Very impressive
I'm looking for the one with the number 5 , there was one at the Italian auction , at the end of 2008 , but I didn't bid on that one because I wanted to have the Volkspolizei Schellenbaum at the auction ( I won it ) .
So , if you tired looking at it , you can always send it to me .........
I also like the things ( don't know the name ) where you put your tops in , how did you find those ?

                      Johan:
The Soviet Model-1925 regimental pole top (my #5)
comes in two variations - slope hammer head down,
being IMO the early version, and slope head up being
later, maybe circa 1935. The smaller Model-1940 also
has the slope head up, but with a symmetric red star.
The previous BAM Show display photo used candlestick
bases to support the pole tops in free standing mode.
I found these over time at the fleamarket for $1 each.

                        pole top display mounts ???

...to display pole tops I use candle stick bases to support
them in a free standing mode, found these over the years
very cheap at my local fleamarket for around $1 each.

On this day 70 years ago, a combined Soviet-Mongol army led by Marshal Georgy Zhukov launched a major offensive against Japanese troops that invaded eastern Mongolia and were advancing toward the Soviet border. The battle at Khalkin Gol significantly influenced the course of the Second World War. Anatoly Koshkin, a prominent orientalist, takes a look at those events.
First, there is a direct link between the events at Khalkin Gol and the signing of a non-aggression pact between Germany and the Soviet Union, the so-called Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. It was vitally important for the Soviet Union to rule out the danger of a simultaneous war at two fronts far apart. As you know, in the 1930s there were many provocations on the part of Japan. By engaging the Soviet Union in an armed conflict, Japan thus hoped to press the Soviet leadership into halting its aid to China. Another aim was to encourage Britain and the United States to pursue the policy of appeasing the aggressor by showing that Japan’s military ambitions were focused entirely against the Soviet Union.
And the third important factor: at that time Germany, Italy and Japan were in talks on forming a military alliance. Japan saw the alliance as anti-Soviet and the operation on the Khalkhyn Gol river could strengthen Japan’s position at those talks, the Russian historian says.
Japan’s defeat on the Khalkhyn Gol and the signing of the non-aggression pact between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union rose Japan’s distrust in its European ally and this had consequences later.
But the main factors which held Japan back from fighting the USSR on the German side in 1941 was the strong alignment of forces of the Soviet Army in the Far East and the failure of German blitzkrieg. And Japanese commanders could not forget a tough lesson the Soviet Army had taught them in August 1939 on the Khalkhyn Gol river.

                              Hello Don:
Indeed prior to the fall of the Soviet Union, just about the only way a
collector could obtain Soviet pole tops and flags, was via a veteran
"brought it back" purchase. I obtained back in the 1970's a rare GI
captured from the Germans, previously captured in Russia example.
Below is such an example, like the one in my collection for decades.

                              Soviet arms versions:
1 First version (1923-1936) -------> 7 scrolls, count includes one at bottom
2 Second version (1936-1946) ---> 11 scrolls, used on unit flags until ~1942
3 Third version (1946-1956) -----> 16 scrolls, Latvia, Estonia, etc., added
4 Fourth version (1956-1991) ---> 15 scrolls, Finland SSR scroll removed.
