The ugly little MoD 1970 jubilees are usually plain flimsy paper. I've seen the "AB" series dark blue to generals, and have one to an air force general, but haven't see the other to the colonel before.

When my scanner feels like cooperating, I'll post my "AB Series" to a serving air force general, side by side with the usual tiny flimsy mass issue one.

Here is the badge itself, authorized for wear in uniform or on civilian clothes on the RIGHT side.

The badge on the left is the standard pattern, while the one on the right is a "mutant" made entirely in SILVERED aluminum rather than gilt!

If anyone has examples of OTHER variants, please post them.

The maker's mark "Shch Z" appears on the reverse of the suspension on the hollow stamped "normal" gilt pattern.

The weird incorrect silvered version has a "dished" reverse, marked "R Z F S 1972" and came in a partial group from a Leningrad resident.

Generals have (though WHY ...) a serial number but notice no printed "seal" on the right hand page. Major General of (Air Force) Engineer Technical Service ("ITS") Petukhov never folded his "booklet," so it is an uncreased "card."

I'm not sure exactly what former Sergeant Major Rozov's branch ? status was--- x/s after a rank is usually "of X/branch." What "r/" would be here, I don't know, since I only have his 1965 and Leningrad jubilee documnets with this. The "mutant" silver badge came in his lot.

These medals were contracted to various small mint factories, that's why we see so many variations.

I have about 8 or 10 variations in my collection.
