    HAT Badges???

    I was wondering if someone could enlighten me as to the significance, if any, of the following metal insignia, which I believe may be hat badges? These are items found in box that belonged to my father. These may very well be post 1945 production. Thanks in advance.

          None of those are hat badges

          #1 Army proficiency badge, not a late 80's one - I'd guess maybe 70's?

          #2 Well, it says "excellent", I think the hammer and wrench is construction troops, but I can't decide what the word underneath says. Never seen one of these before.

          #3 Wartime style "excellent" badge - this one is for air defence

          #4 Enlisted army man's proficiency grade 3 badge. Again, 70's? Definitely not 80's.

            To be more correct;
            #2 is prewar and wartime civil "Excellent constructor" badge for railway workers.
            #3 is postwar issued (before 1957) "Excellent in air defence" badge for military men.

              Ahhh yes, railway makes sense now on #2!

              And I never knew the excellent badges were issued after WW2 (I guessed probably for some short time, but not as far as '57)

              Thanks for giving me some new knowledge too!

                Sorry, I wasn't attentive enough - "Excellent in air defense" badge is 100% wartime.

                  Greatly appreciate the history on these items. So that I am clear, #2 is pre '45 and the other 3 are post war; correct? This makes sense as my father was heavily involved with the Cold War soon after WWII. I am sure there is very limited value associated with these medals but can you prescribe a value for documentation purposes?

                  In addition, I have a few more Russian items to show and any history and associated value would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -
