There are TONS of fake daggers floating around. Whenever you want to purchase one, try to avoid ebay and choose reputable dealers´ sites if you want to purchase one.

An original one can cost over USD 350. If you´re lucky enough you can get it for USD 250.

Soviet era (Cold War) militaria is becoming a hugh area of interest for militaria collectors. I suggest caution. The quality of original badges and uniforms were not that high to start with. Can you imagine what the fakers can do with the Soviet stuff (which are commanding higher prices). Caution, caution and more caution!

My Father has the exact same dagger he purchased his from a good family friend "DOC" Doc was a former Mig Pilot that defected into Turkey in the 1960's when the wall fell his started going back to Russia to buy cold war Items and bring them here and sell as a side business. I know that my Dad bought this same dagger back in the late 90's when I really dont think they were making too many fakes. You also see in pictures the lead officer in parades for each armed forces wears the belt and dagger.
