The Trench shield is Russian WW1 in origin. It was used also in WW2 but produced during WW1. See my website for one with photos of it in use both in WW1 and WW2.

Thanks Thomas, good information to know...
Somebody, after all, had to make a start. What we wrote and said is also believed by many others. They just don't dare express themselves as we did. Quote - Sophie Scholl - White Rose resistance group

The body armour will stop a 9mm round at normal combat ranges.

Not sure about the female issue. I think it is simply a small size.

        I have two sets myself.

        Cheers, Ade.

Hallo Ade, thanks for the info. Ja,, I would agree about the 9mm, but not an 8mm or something similar.
And ja,,,,I am only guessing about the womans piece as stated, but I really believe it may be one. When you see it in person the waist is very tiny and the hip piece very wide,,,may be an androgenous male? LOL!

          Hi Norbert,
You should bring one of those to the next battle. They guys would love to see something like that up close! BTW, Comrade Ermakov finally got the Maxim running. Her mane is 'Nika'.

I agree there is no way it would stop a rifle round!

At some point in time in the future, I might copy a set for use in re-enactment. Last year I produced a few sets of SN42 body armour. Here is me trying to copy a well known wartime photo.

            Cheers, Ade.
