Great display of Hungarian Orders, Gordon! I wonder why they chose not to depict the central coat of arms on the flags? From what I'm able to gather, the flag in use between 1957 and 1989 (called "Kadar's Flag") had a centrally located seal of a tricolour arms surrounded by wreathes and surmounted by a red star.

                    Gordon,

Great collection of Hungarian awards you have there. Very impressive looking bunch indeed.

I would think the one example with the rubies had to set you back a bit, huh?

                      Greg,

That is a good question and one I can not answer. Most of the awards did have the 1957 coat of arms (Kadar) in the centre. It did have the affect of this award being presented by the Hungarian Republic for two years after the end of communism in its unaltered state.

                      Michael,

Yes it did but not as much as the first class with diamond would! Unfortunately, I couldn't display all of the Flag Order Classes as some are at my home in Canada.

                      Regards,

                      Gordon
