My best advice is to check known, reputable dealers to see what they are asking and, of course, see what they're going for on our favorite auction site. As you probably already know, there are three "stars" within the categories you have mentioned and they are the Defense of Odessa, the Defense of Sevastopol and the Capture of Belgrade... each of these can run between $400 and $700 USD on any given day. All the rest run much less- usually between $15 and $40 USD each, depending on condition and variation. The documents for these medals will usually sell for a much better price than the medal itself.

As with all awards, there are two levels of worth: the intrinsic (smelt) value- what you can get for the raw material, and the collector value- whatever someone will pay for it. In the current economic climate, I'm afraid the prices will go down proportionately with the amount of disposable income available to collectors. Not a great time to sell.

        Hello Patrick,
One trick I've found is doing a search of eBay *completed* sales. Sort 'em from highest to lowest, throw out the top two or three upper and lower prices and then make an average price of the rest.
Also, use Igor's website as a guide but deduct a certain percentage (10 to 25% depending).
warinpieces.com is also a very current site. I'd even add a small percentage to their prices.

PS. Keep me in mind when you sell that fake Odessa if it's a reasonably decent copy. I don't have one at all and a real one is worth more than I have.
        Thanks,
        Eric Gaumann
