    ribbon order

    Hi:

Does the Order of the Red Star come first or the Order of the Red Banner? Any good ribbon order sources out there?

I have seen a tunic with 3 or 4 Red Banners before the 2 Red Star ribbons.

According to rules of soviet military uniform wearing the order of ribbons on the left side of the chest is following:
    Lenin order
    Combat Red Banner
First degrees of Suvorov, Ushakov,Kutuzov, Nachimov, Chmelnitski
Second degrees of Suvorov, Ushakov,Kutuzov, Nachimov, Chmelnitski
    Third degrees of Suvorov,Kutuzov, Chmelnitski
    Nevski order
    1-st degree of Patriotc War
    2-nd degree of Patriotc War
    Labor Red Banner
    and then Red Star

There is a three part folio on the market which not only lists
the ribbon/award order but does so with samples of the ribbons.
      Unfortunately it is untitled.

This folio has one problem. It lists the classes of suvorov, kutuzov, khmelnitsky, nakhimov and ushakov consecutively. These orders´ order of precedence is just as Komandir RKKA says it is. All first classes go together and so on.

However that is a very nice folio! There is a soviet version, edited by the former USSR MoD itself, but I´ve been never ben able to find it.

I assume there is some order to the ribbons? Thanks for the post; quite a neat little item!

An interesting point, good to know.

Thank you for pointing this out.

            Best wishes,

STEBALIN - Are you refering to the two posters made in the early 1980s?

                  Hello Ralph,

You hit the nail. I just remembered the order for personal courage (1988) was not in the list, thus it must be the time period you say. I have seen both the poster and a folio, very similar to the one Wild Card shows, but in russian.
