What type of WW2 Russian Medal is this?

    Hi Guys,
I got this medal as a throw-in with another purchase. I have no clue as to what it is other than being from WW2 (as Stalin is on the obverse and 1941-45 on the reverse). Please let me know what it is and a ballpark price (for record keeping). Many thanks in advance.
    Sincerely Andy B.

PS also, what type of ribbon goes with it?

      Hi Andy,
Your medal is the "Medal for Victory Over Germany in the Great Patriotic War". Very common, almost 15 million awarded. Ribbon is the same as the Imperial Russian St. George cross/medal and the Soviet Order of Glory - Orange and Black stripes.
Price would be: a salty medal and ribbon on an old brass or steel suspension; 20 bucks on a good day. New ribbon and cheap-o aluminum suspension - maybe 10+ bucks. The medal itself - good luck getting 5 bucks outta the deal.
      Thanks,
      Eric Gaumann

Finding the ribbon only for any award using the St. George ribbon is going to be tougher... The ribbons given out during victory day celebrations are actual award ribbons and god knows how many of those were made.
